Social Studies Blog Assignment

It's time to start writing!! On Friday, in class, students were given the writing prompt below.  They were to fill in the blanks using their knowledge of American Indian ways of life.  They could use their Social Studies books to help them tell a story about an American Indian child who lives in one of the four cultural regions discussed in this unit.  Students should review the geographic and climatic characteristics of each region and the technologies that people developed to adapt to life in the four main cultural regions of Early American time.

After the blanks have been filled in with the correct information, the students were to finish the story by adding their own problem and solution.

Students - post your ending to the story in the comment box below.  Once you have submitted your story, you may comment (respectfully) on your peers' stories.

  1. We can't find your brother. The girl sprang out of bed and grabbed her clothes. She and her father would have to hurry and find her brother before something bad happened to him. The two of them ran out of the tepee as fast as they could and jumped on the horses. Off they galloped as quickly as they could. Galloping and circling camp on the horses, while calling out his name and silently listening for an answer. Nothing. They came back to camp and feared the worse. As the were getting off the horses, her father felt a tug at his leg. He looked down to see his son. The girl and her father jumped off the horses and hugged the boy tightly. Her father asked where he had been and her brother said he fell asleep in the empty tepee next to theirs. Her father gave her brother a stern talking too and hugged them both tightly. They were all happy to have him home safe and sound.
